Good evening, everyone, and thank you for taking the time to attend our AGM.
On behalf of the committee, I’d like to acknowledge all members, volunteers, and supporters who have contributed to the club over the past year. Your time, effort, and commitment are what keep the club strong.
It’s been a year of real progress for the club. In particular, we are very grateful for the generous funding support that we received from the Wesley Community Trust which has put the club on a very strong financial footing and will enable the committee to consider ways to further support our members within our community.
We also saw the program of work on the track resurfacing brought forward along with additional facility enhancements that will benefit our members for years to come. The program of work did come at a small disruption to our summer junior program which we felt was worthwhile. We are thankful for the upgraded facility, it is a major asset to the club and a point of difference to many other Auckland region athletics clubs.
We’ve also continued to build participation across our membership segments and strengthen the sense of community that makes Owairaka such a special club. While there have been challenges along the way, the resilience and engagement of the committee, our members have been a real highlight.
I’d like to recognise the committee and volunteers—much of the work behind the scenes goes unseen, but it is critical to everything we achieve.
The committee were pleased to award three life memberships in recent years to Kate, Julie and Natasha in recognition for long term service to the club.
Looking ahead, our focus remains on growing participation, maintaining the quality of our
programmes, and making the most of these upgraded facilities to support the club’s future.
Thank you again for your ongoing support. I look forward to another positive year ahead.
