2024-25 Athletics Prizewinners

Well done to all of our junior athletes, and to those who supported and coached them over another busy summer. There were many great performances during the season, with athletes achieving personal bests, trying new events, representing Auckland at regional and national events and even picking up some national titles.

The following awards were presented at our junior prizegiving, held on Tuesday 8 April at the Wesley Community Centre. Congratulations to you all!

Winona Lee - Winona manages our social media accounts, coaches our littlest athletes and is also a driving force in senior women's running. She's also put up her had this year to help recruit more volunteers!

We wrapped up the event with a special presentation of new Owairaka branded hoodies to the five junior athletes selected to represent Auckland at the Athletics NZ Track & Field Championships - Isabelle Brunton, Annah Bratton, Peggy Taylor, Timo Macdonald and Rory Davies.

The new hoodies are based on a concept and clever wordplay by Peggy Taylor and Sophia Urlich - OWAISOFAST / OWAISOHI / OWAISOFAR - particularly appropriate for this group of fast running, high and far jumping group of athletes, who competed in relays, sprints, middle distance, steeplechase, long jump, high jump and triple jump, bringing home seven medals and some great performances. We're so proud of you all!

We're almost sold out of our initial batch of these hoodies, but we're taking orders now for the next delivery - get in quick!
