Te Hāora

Te Hāora I The Hour is a new event in the Auckland winter running calendar. Get your team of four together and be part of this unique format relay against the clock. 

Part of the Athletics Auckland Senior Winter League. Merit prizes, spot prizes, league points and a prize for the fastest lap on the day are all up for grabs.

The location

Held at the iconic and much-loved Lovelock Track, home of running legends and world record relays!  In the central suburb of Sandringham, it's easily to get to (active transport encouraged!) and promises a fast, flat course that's truly multi-surface - track, path and grass. Read more about the course.

Race format

Laps are 1.46km. The first runner of each team starts at 2pm, and after completing a lap, passes the baton to the next runner in the team. And so on, until an hour is up. The goal is to complete as many laps as possible.

When the one hour hooter goes, finish the lap you are on. Number of laps plus finish times will determine the final placings.

Prizes

Spot prizes are handed out at end of laps and there are merit prizes on offer for the fastest laps of the Te Hāora Strava segment on the day.  Check out this blog post for more info on prizes. 

Entry categories

We welcome entries from male and female club teams in the four winter league categories:

• U18/U20
• Senior
• Junior Masters (35-49)
• Senior Masters (50+)

We also welcome mixed (team composition: 2 male, 2 female made up of any age groups) and community teams.

Entry fees

AAI-affiliated teams $60

Community teams (non-AAI affiliated) $80
