Owai at the 2026 Senior AAi Winter Prizegiving

Prizegiving took place at Mt Smart after the 5k Road Champs on the 19th September. It was a good chance to celebrate our achievements over the winter ... and start scheming for next year!

Lots of medals and certificates were given out on the day for the various competitions contested over the winter. Athletics is THE sport if you want to win lots of medals - there are so many opportunities both for individuals and in teams. You don't need to be the fastest or even the fastest you've ever been to make a real contribution to the team and I'd encourage everyone who joins up to get involved next year.

Here's what was awarded:

🥇Gold, silver and bronze medals for 1st, 2nd and 3rd at the Cross Country champs, Road Champs, Auckland Road Relays and 5k Road Championship.

🏆Grand Prix series certificates. The Grand Prix Series consists of 5 events, of which the first 4 are Cross Country and the final event the Road Championships. The goal is to recognise consistent individual performances across the 5 races.

🛡️Shields for performances at the Auckland Teams Cross Country race.

🏆Senior Winter League Shields for clubs. The Senior Winter League is an interclub competition that was run across 9 rounds this winter with clubs scoring points for participation and performance. The goal of the Winter League is to add a team element and encourage clubs to get their runners involved in events and boost participation through the season. There was one big shield for the overall top club and smaller shields in each of the age group categories: U18/U20; Senior Men and Women; Masters 35 Men; Masters 50 Men; Masters 60 Men; Masters Women
