2025 Matariki King & Queen of the Mountain

Since we started running our King and Queen of the Mountain race on Matariki Friday, it has grown every year as an event and as a celebration of our community - athletes, volunteers, young and old - all coming together to run our maunga.

A few highlights of race day this year:

🏃‍♂️🏃‍♀️🏃‍♀️Lots of entrants - more than ever.Thank you all for coming and running.

📻 A promo on the Radio NZ Matariki show!

🏔️ A new start line on Ernie Pinches Street which meant that ... yes... the race started appropriately uphill.

👯 More tamariki than ever haring down the mountain for the 2.5k race.

🍲Pumpkin, Turkish corba and leeky vegetable soup goodness in the club rooms.

📸An amazing photography performance from Terence Ng. He had video, stills and a bike to follow the action. He even got some aerial footage too! You can see his handiwork here.

🍸Samples of Rokeby smoothies in the clubrooms after. Thank you Ange :)

🪙Lots raised to support our rising stars and send them to competitions. Thank you all. Podium
