About the Event
On Saturday, 24 April, there will be a takeover by our club at the local parkrun. That means that club members will fill all the volunteer roles that day. Club committee member Julie Collard is one of the run directors there and already there are many club members who have been volunteering and/or running there.
Even if you can't volunteer that day, it would be great to have lots of our athletes (from kids to adults) there to run (or walk) in club colours. The idea is to promote our club, but also to let club members know about this free 5k walk or run that takes place in Owairaka Park every Saturday morning (rain or shine) at 8am. There are many roles on offer for volunteers, including setting up the course beforehand (meaning you can still run), finish line duties such as timing and scanning (of barcodes, which each runner carries to identify them and enable them to get a time), marshals and photographer. All up we'll need about 14 or 15 people. Kids are welcome to get involved too (under 10 it may be best to have parent support).
As a volunteer, we will lend you a club supporter t-shirt, which you could also purchase for $10. You can find more information about Owairaka parkrun on the website and Facebook page. Please email owairaka@parkrun.com if you'd like to help or get more information.
