2018 OWAI 5 MILE and PUKETAPAPA 5KM & 2.5KM

The Owai 5 is Auckland’s prestige club-based road race. It is maybe the only 5 mile road race running in the country. This year is a special year -  the 75th Anniversary of Owairaka Athletics & Harrier Club founded by Arthur Lydiard back in 1943 - and the Owai 5 Mile is a central part of the weekend’s celebrations. We want to attract a competitive field to mark this occasion and we are especially keen to see other athletics clubs well represented.

The course is a flat and fast circuit incorporating War Memorial Park and including the historic Lovelock Track.

The race record is currently held by Hamish Carson (25:11). Can anyone break this in this historic year?

This ye
ar we have continued our partnership between Owairaka Athletics and the Puketapapa Local Board to encourage participation in sport.
